FALL LEADERSHIP Six students competed in the SkillsUSA State Fall Leadership Development Conference at the Holiday Inn Bolingbrook. The conference emphasize leadership, motivational and employability skills activities, election of officers and leadership contest competition.
Students participated in various contest such as: Customer Service - Student Katy McNamara was given a scenario and while role playing, had to determine the best solution for an unhappy customer. Job Interview - Student Sabrina Bradfor had to fill out an application and provide a resume for this contest, as well as answer questions pertaining to the job in which she was applying. Job Skill Demonstration - Student Kaitlyn Rigg demonstrated and explained an entry-level technical skill used in the occupational area for which he or she is training. Kaitlyn demonstrated the correct procedure for handcuffing. Opening and Closing Ceremonies - Student Rachel Schweitzer work with a team to demonstrate the symbolic representation of the colors and assembled the parts of the SkillsUSA emblem. Technical Spelling - Student Whittany Troyer demonstrated the correct spelling of words within the career and technical education fields. Students receive the spelling words ahead of time and had to memorize the correct spelling. Promotional Bulletin Board - Student Arianna Shipley worked with a team to create a bulletin board for SkillsUSA and the Theme "Champions at Work." Students are interviewed on their promotional idea. State Conference is in April 2009, where students and others will have the opportunity to compete in their subject area, and in leadership contests. |
