Health Occupations Students Pass
CNA Exam

For the fourth consecutive year, 100% of the students that sat for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam passed the test.  We now have 38 new CNA’s ready for employment, most of who will be continuing their education in the nursing field.  Congratulations to Mrs. Lauren Touma (instructor), as well as Mrs. Katie Bowars and Mrs. Christi Wingate (clinical instructors), and to all 38 students!

Early Childhood Care and Education

Eleven Early Childhood Care and Education students have completed the Level 1 Illinois Child Care Resource and Referral training materials and will be receiving their Level ECCE credential. Students who have earned the credential now have more employment opportunities at licensed centers and preschools, as well as school districts, get more funding by hiring people with the Level 1 credential.  In addition, seniors with this credential are now eligible to have up to 90% of their college tuition paid if they start at the community college level.

CAD and Civil Engineering Students
Working on Bloomington's West Market St. Corridor

Students in the BACC Computerized Architectural Design and Civil Engineering classes are working on Bloomington’s West Market Street corridor.  Most of the work has taken place in the computer lab, using aerial photography as a reference.  Students have also taken a drive up and down Market Street,  getting an explanation of the project by local Architects, and Civil Engineers.

The teams of students have been given the task of improving the streetscapes as well as the task of coming up with a development concept for the large acreage  across from two major retailers, Walmart and Farm & Fleet. Two examples of development ideas currently underway are for a golf course and an aquatic center.
